Sweet mockorange is a deciduous shrub growing 8 to 10 feet tall and wide, with a rounded shape, and stiff, upright arching branches. Leaves are pointed ovals, slightly toothed, and of a dark to medium green color. White, fragrant, four-petaled flowers bloom in clusters late May to early June. Bark is oragne to reddish brown, with mature wood exfoliating in strips. An old fashioned shrub, useful in shrub borders.
Grow in well-drained, loamy soil in full sun to light, filtered shade. pH adaptive. Prune selectively to control size, or renovate every few years after bloom.
