Snapdragon are tender plants typically grown as an annual. They are at their best in the spring and fall when the temperatures are cooler. Height depends on variety, ranging from 6 inches to several feet. Colors range from pastels to brighter, sort-of sherbet colors. Antirrhimum 'Dulcinea's Heart,' a hardier snapdragon, has been over-summering in the Washington Square Demonstration Garden.

Grow in rich, well drained soil. Full sun to light shade (they prefer cooler temperatures, though ,so place them with that in mind.) Deadheading will help to prolong bloom, though flowering will slow as the temperatures heat up in summer. They will sometimes reseed.
