Muhly grass is a semi-evergreen, clump-forming grass, with long, thin green blades. The clump grows to about 3 feet tall and wide. Plumes emerge late summer and fall and are dusky pink.

Muhly grass requires full sun and well drained soils. Most any soil type, including clay soils. Cut back in late winter; use hedge shears or a weed-trimmer with a metal blade (see Guides).
