This charming, off fashioned perennial that performs well in dry shade areas. Leaves are a longish heart-shape, and are a soft dull green, mostly mounded at the base, thought the tall stems also have some leaves. The flowers are pale violet blue, are bell-shaped, are are arranged along one side of the flower stem. Blooms early to mid summer and then tends to go dormant, though sometimes a later, second blooming may occur in the fall. 18 to 24 inches tall. It is narrow, but in time the plant will spread gently.
Grow in full sun to part shade, where it requires less water. Prefers loamy clay soils. Sometimes difficult to transplant. If planted in a favorable location, it will spread and seed, but not aggressively so.
