Tube Clematis is a semi-woody perennial that is non-climbing, and grows as a bushy mound about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. It has green foliage that turns yellow in the fall. Fragrant violet-blue blossoms flower from late summer into September, and are followed by puffy seed heads. Use in a perennial border or woodland setting.
Grow in well drained, loamy soil in full sun to light shade. Prefers a loamy, rich soil. Clematis prefer cool soils, so plant where its crown will be sheltered (perhaps by a tallish perennial) and mulch around the base so that the soil stays cool. Prune back in late winter as new growth emerges.
