Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

This perennial, formerly in the chrysanthemum family, forms dense mounds of attractively colored leaves, and grows about 12 to 24 feet tall and 24 to 36 inches wide. It have classic mum-like leaves, except that they have a lovely silver margin, and the undersides are also silvery. Fall blooms are small and mum-like, with short pink petals and a yellow eye. Not very showy, so think of them as a bonus to the wonderful foliage. The plant spreads by rhizomes, though it is not aggressive. An attractive perennial groundcover.
