Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

Summit Ash is a tall, upright, pyramidal tree that grows 50 to 70 feet tall and 40 to 60 feet wide (at a moderate pace). Compound, pinnate leaves are a medium green, turning yellow in the fall. 'Summit' is a male cultivar, and so, while it produces flowers (small and inconspicuous), it does not produce seed. A nice shade tree.
WARNING: Emerald Ash Bore have been identified in Colorado; this is a highly destructive invasive pest and has caused significant damage to ash trees throughout the eastern United States. Go to utahpests.usu.edu for more information. Grow in full sun and well drained soil. Adaptive to a variety of soil types and pH. Once established, it tolerates drought, de-icing salt, and poor soils. Hardy to USDA Zone 3.
