Water Saving Tip:

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.

  • Description

  • Notes

Small pink, orchid-like flowers grace this lovely perennial in the spring. Leaves are elongated hearts, soft green in color with red margins. Leafs gain a bronze hue in the fall. In more moderate climates, epimedium is an evergreen; not so much here but it is still worth growing. Leaf and flower stems are wiry, making both fine for cutting. Grows 6 to 12 inches tall and 12 to 24 inches wide. Partners well with Heuchera, Corydalis, and shade-loving geraniums.
