Similar in appearance to E. umbellatum, the leaves on James' buckwheat are more cottony and do not turn red in the fall, and the flower heads are branched. this perennial is mat-forming, growing less than 6 inches tall but with a spread of up to 24 inches. Leaves are green and oval to oblong, and persistent. Clusters of bright yellow flowers bloom June to November. A Utah native.
