Love-in-a-mist is a charming annual with dainty, cornflower-like blossoms and feathery, airy foliage. The flowers are typically pastel and in shades of blue, pink, and white. they bloom in spring, and though the season is short, they are so worth growing, because the flowers are followed by pale green, ball-like seed heads that are charming of themselves, or worthy of drying for arrangements. They typically grow about 18 to 24 inches tall, and if planted where they are happy, they will reseed.
Grow in full sun to partial shade. Grow in well draining soil; it tolerates poorer as long as it drains. Deadheading will prolong the bloom season, but will diminish the opportunity for reseeding.
