A lovely evergreen shrub for screening or accent. It forms an open-branched, pyramidal form with gracefully arching branchlets, giving it an overall draped effect. Tiny needles are deep green, with new growth having a slight reddish tinge. In winter, color can take on a bronze hue.
In our hot, dry summer climate, all Chamaecyparis, though listed as being full sun, do well here with some mid-day shade. Additionally, don't place it where it will receive reflected winter heat, as it may cause the plant to break dormancy and to bud-out too early and be cold damaged. Grow in deep, well drained soil, such as loamy-clay or loamy-sand. Do not shear.
