  • Description

  • Notes

This older Norway maple cultivar has maroon-purple spring foliage, fading to dark green in the summer. Schwedler is the “parent” of Crimson King and is a more vigorous grower and more cold hardy. Schwedler grows 40 to 60 feet tall and 30 to 50 feet wide. It has a generally upright and rounded habit. Like other maples, this one has spring flowers followed by winged-seed pods called sumara.
