Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

Rocky Mountain Maple can be grown as multi-stemmed large shrub or small tree. It has deep green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. Smooth gray bark. New stem growth is bright red. Grows 15 to 20 feet tall and 6 to 15 feet wide. Not easy to find, though its worth looking for as it is a lovely addition to our smallish, urban water-wise landscapes.
