Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

Blazing Star is an upright, clumping perennial with grass-like foliage and distinctive spires of purple to violet flowers. Blooming in summer, the flowers form along the ends of tall stalks, creating a fluffy, feather-dusterish appearance. An excellent cut flower, it provides a delightful textural contrast in the sunny perennial border or meadow garden. Grows about 24 to 36 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide.
