A truly dwarf mugo pine, reaching only two feet high, with a dense habit and rounded shape. Small, densely needled stems are accented in winter by golden tips and shiny whitish fascicles, giving the plant a radiant look. This slow growing shrub forms a dense mound and will not require pruning to maintain its neat form. Perfect in rock gardens, perennial and mixed borders. Grows 2 feet tall and wide.
Grow in full sun in well drained soil. Useful in shrub borders and mass plantings. Growth is slow, generally, and size varies. See guide for tips on pruning evergreens. Candle length is a good indicator of the rate of growth and the ultimate size of a mugo pine, which is handy as there is a great deal of variation in character within the species.
