Water Saving Tip:

Apply as little fertilizer as possible.

If you use fertilizer make sure it stays on the landscape, and carefully water it in so there is NO runoff.

This sage grows about 3 to 5 feet tall and wide, with an upright, though slightly loose, habit. It has grey-green foliage covered in grey hairs giving it a silvery look. Yellow flowers bloom in late summer into fall and are inconspicuous, but the bees enjoy them. New wood is supple and white; older wood is brown and shreddy. Heady aroma makes this a wonderful plant for cutting fresh or drying. Good for natural-styled landscapes. Evergreen.
Grow in full sun and well drained soil, preferrably a little on the coarse side. Tolerates gravelly-clay and sandy soils. Alkaline tolerant. Doesn't require watering once it is established. Every couple of years, prune this sage back hard in the spring to keep it more compact.
