‘Compressa’ is a dwarf, upright, narrow, cone-shaped form of common juniper. It is a very slow growing evergreen shrub, growing only about 1 to 2 inches per year, and typically reaches only 2 to 3 feet tall after 10 years. Awl-shaped dark blue-green foliage. Male and female flowers are on separate plants (dioecious). Female fruits (berry-like cones) of the species are dark blue to nearly black and enjoyed by birds. Its scale makes it a useful evergreen for perennial borders.

Grow in any soil that is well draining, including sandy, gravelly, or clay soils, but they must be well draining. Best growth in full sun. Once established, it tolerates dry soils and heat.
