Water Saving Tip:

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.

'Burgundy' blanket flower has wine red petals surrounding a maroon to yellow eye, and blooms most all summer long and into the fall. Leaves are grey-green, oblong, and toothed to lobed. Grows about 30 inches tall and wide. A fabulous perennial for hot, dry gardens.
Grow in well drained soil in full sun. Not particular about soil type, including poor or clay soils, as long as they are not wet. Extremely heat tolerant. Deadhead to maintain a tidy appearance, or let the flowers go to seed, adding to your garden, and feeding the birds. The seed heads are charming round balls and both flowers and seed heads make nice cut flowers. Will reseed in the garden, so deadhead if that thought bothers you.
