Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

  • Notes

This Colorado spruce cultivar tends to be shorter than the species, growing about 6 to 8 inches per year once established, averaging 10 to 15 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide after 20 years. It has blue needles and a dense branching habit. Useful as an accent in the shrub border.
Grow in full sun in clay-loamy to sandy-loamy, well drained soil. At higher elevations, spruces are more heat and drought tolerant; in the valley, it will grow more vigorously and be less prone to disease and insect problems if it receives regular watering (though don't over-water, either).
