Amur corktree grows 30 to 40 feet tall and nearly as wide, with slow to moderate growth. Leaves are deep, lustrous green in summer, and turn yellow to bronzy-yellow in the fall. The leaves are pinnately compounded, and so the winter structure is open and coarse. Yellowish green flowers appear in hanging panicles in late May - nice but not showy. As the tree matures, bark becomes corky.

Amur Corktree tolerates a wide range of soils, including those that are somewhat saline or alkaline. Though drought tolerant on establishment, it will endure soils that are not well draining.
