Water Saving Tip:

Replace turf with groundcovers, trees, and shrubs. If you have areas where no one uses the grass, patches that do not grow well, or a turf area too small to water without runoff, consider replacing the turf with water-efficient landscaping.

'Montgomery' (sometimes sold as 'R.H. Montgomery') is a slow-growing, dwarf cultivar of Colorado spruce. It has a broad cone shape that grows 2 to 3 feet tall over 8 years with a similar spread. May eventually reach 6 to 8 feet in height, or more. Features attractive silvery blue needles. A nice accent, or to give a shrub or perennial border some needed winter interest, without being overwhelming in scale.
Grow in full sun in clay-loamy to sandy-loamy, well drained soil. At higher elevations, spruces are more heat and drought tolerant; in the valley, it will grow more vigorously and be less prone ot disease and insect prolems if it receives regular watering (though don't over-water, either).
