These flowers have a variety of foliage ranging from dark grayish/green to bright green to blue green. Carnations are single or double flowers that bloom spring to summer in white and shades of red, rose, pink, yellow, and orange.

Easily grown in slightly alkaline, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid planting in areas with poor drainage where crowns will remain wet in winter. Needs good air circulation. Somewhat intolerant of summer heat and humidity. Remove stems of spent flowers promptly to prolong bloom period.
