A perfect sedum for rock gardens and borders, Goldmoss sedum forms a carpet of soft green that becomes completely engulfed with yellow flowers in summer. Foliage turns a beautiful shade of red during cold months. Use among stepping stones, along a garden path, or in a parkstrip. Also nice in containers. Grows about 3 inches tall and spreads about 10 inches wide. It is a little brittle, and so is best with only light foot traffic.

As a large, slow-growing conifer, Blue Atlas Cedar requires ample room for growth. It has a broad, pyramidal form and is an eye-catching specimen for a large landscape. It's needles are 1 inch long, and are a beautiful shade of silvery blue. In order to develop its best color, the tree needs to be exposed to full sun. It can reach up to 40 to 60 feet tall and up to 30 feet wide. There is also a weeping form, Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca Pendula.' Cedars have lovely cones, emerging bluish when young and aging a reddish brown.

Scotch pine is a medium-large pine growing 30 to 50 feet tall and nearly as wide. It has an upright, pyramidal habit in its youth, becoming broad and flat-topped as it ages. Branches are strongly horizontal. Older bark has a distinctive orange color (look towards the top of the tree to catch a glimpse). Blue-green needles are stiff, vary in length, and twist 360 degrees. Cones are 1 to 3 inches in length. A number of cultivars are avaialble, including dwarf and prostrate forms.

Grosso has the the darkest blue flower spikes of the French Lavenders. A heavy bloomer, the flowers have a strong lavender fragrance, and coupled with their long stems, they are excellent for arrangements or making lavender wands. Also excellent dried. It is very drought tolerant and is a great plant to create that Mediterranean effect. 30 inches tall by 24 to 30 inches wide.

Coral Bells have beautiful round, scalloped leaves that makes this plant a garden favorite even when it isn't in bloom. Red to carmine bell-shaped flowers appear on a long, graceful, wiry stem in late spring. Removing the spent flowers will prolong the bloom season. Excellent for dry shade areas, they will require more water with more light. Many species and selections are available with different leave and flower colors; also with differing water tolerances. For best effect, plant many together, as they are delicate in appearance and can get lost among bolder plants.

This colorful groundcover grows in shade to part sun, though the more sun, the more water it needs. Spreads by runners, forming dense mats. Foliage color varies and ranges from bright green, to bronze, to purple, and nearly black, and variegated forms with white, cream, green, and pinks. Evergreen in mild winters. Blue or pink spires up to 8 inches tall in April and May. 2-4" x 12-18"

Spotted dead nettle is a moderate to fast growing, herbaceous perennial that forms a low, dense ground cover, usually under 6 inches, with a spread of 18 inches or more. Foliage color is silver-white with green margins, though many cultivars exist, with a seemingly infinite variety in leave color. Flower color is white, pink, rose, or lilac, depending on cultivar. Blooms typically appear late spring to early summer. Use as a ground cover in shrub or foundation borders, under trees, in containers or hanging baskets (though in this later use plants may not over winter).

Colorado Spruce is an upright to pyramidal evergreen tree with a dense form and horizontal branches. It grows slowly, 60 to 80 feet tall and 20 to 30 feet wide. This dogwood has the same lovely red wood that is a standout in the winter garden, but with grey-green leaves with irregular creamy-white margins that gives it a luminous look. It grows about 6 to 8 feet tall, and forms a thicket of blood-red stems. White spring flowers form in clusters, followed by blue berries enjoyed by birds. Partners well with viburnums, hydrangeas, and snowberry. Use in shrub or foundation borders, or as an informal hedge.
