Water Saving Tip:

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.

  • Notes

This small tree or large shrub will slowly grow to about 25 feet tall, though typically between 9 to 15 feet. It has a broad, umbrrella-like head with many branches, and dark green needles. Bark is reddish brown and cones are dull, tawny yellow.
Prefers a well drained, slightly acidic soil. Full sun to mid-day shade. While it is cold hardy, its broad crown may collect snow, which in heavy storms may cause limbs to break.
