Water Saving Tip:

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.

  • Notes

This hardy little perennial is mostly grown for its foliage, which is deeply cut and silvery grey in color. It forms a dense form about 8 to 10 inches tall and 10 to 18 inches across. Little yellow flowers appear in June and July. Its a lovely contrast to green-leafed groundcovers such as thyme and germander. It would also be a good choice for a sunny parkstrip. There is a lovely stand of Partridge Feather in the Washington Square Demonstration Garden.
Grow in full sun and well drained soil. Will grow in clay soil if it is well drained, though it prefers a sandy-loam soil. In late winter, cut back the dead foliage, though if you don't get to it, the new growth will do a pretty good job of covering it over.
