Water Saving Tip:

Change spray sprinklers to low-flow bubbler or drip systems. Shrubs and trees are ideal candidates for this type of irrigation because the water is applied directly to the root zones.

Ephedra is a Utah native, with an upright to open growth habit, growing 2 to 4 feet tall and wide. Bark is bright green and is the plants most obvious characteristic. Leaves are very small and nearly inconspicuous. It does not techically have flowers, but does have inconspicuous cones. Provides an interesting structure and texture in the garden.
Grow in well drained, sandy to gravelly soils in full sun. Can survive after establishment without suplemental water, but will not survive wet soils. Frost tolerant to -10 F.
