Botanical name:Prunus cerasifera 'Thundercloud'

'Thundercloud' is a deciduous, small tree useful as an accent due to its coppery red foliage. It hasa rounded, dense crown and grows about 20 feet tall and wide. Pale pink to white flowers bloom in early spring before leaves emerge. The red foliage holds its color well throughout the heat of the summer. Fall color is a coppery orange. Useful at entries, patios, or as an accent.

Purple Ice Plant

This is another fine South African introduction valued for its shimmering fuchsia purple daisies that keep coming all summer. A vigorous spreader, it forms a dense mat of succulent, linear green, succulent leaves. Succulent fleshy green foliage is sometimes tinged with purple in winter. Foliage is covered with transparent flakes that somewhat resemble tiny pieces of ice, hence the common name. Plants are evergreen in warm winter climates, but at best are usually only semi-evergreen here. Grows 3 inches tall and 18 inches wide.

Blue Fescue

This group of ornamental grasses generally grow less than a foot tall and have fine, green to blue-green, evergreen leaves that are very thin and hair-like. Flowers appear in the summer and have an airy and open appearance. Prefers full sun but will tolerate afternoon shade if not over-watered. It needs well draining soil and is drought tolerant once it's established. An evergreen, it may need tidying up in the spring; trim out dead foliage and seed heads.

Pacific, Round, or Yellow Stonecrop

Botanical name:Sedum spathulifolium

This species of sedum is quite low, usually under 4 inches. Leaves are somewhat rounded, thick and fleshy with a unusual white powdery coating which lends a white to grey-green appearance. In early summer, they produce flat-topped clusters of yellow flowers. In autumn, leaves often turn reddish to purplish. In fact, this plants foliage seems to change color constantly all year round. They are particularly well suited for mixing among Sempervivums and other low stonecrops in the rockery, front of the perennial border or alpine troughs.
